Inside Line Promotions – BEAVER DAM, Wis. (June 9, 2020) – Kyle Schuett earned his second-best result during World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series competition last Saturday when he joined ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’ for the second time in three weeks.

“We had an okay weekend,” he said. “It wasn’t bad for our first time at the track and racing against the Outlaws. We made the A Main on Saturday and missed it by three spots on Friday.”

Schuett was able turn knowledge gained from Friday into a starting spot in Saturday’s main event at Beaver Dam Raceway.

“We learned a few things on Friday, including missing the gear a little bit,” he said. “Unfortunately, we went out really late for qualifying on Saturday. We were the second-to-last car to qualify. But we still managed to qualify 24th out of 36 cars, which isn’t terrible. I think we could’ve had a shot at qualifying in the top 15 if we went out earlier, but that’s the way it goes sometimes.”

Schuett started and finished sixth in his heat race, which slotted him in the fifth starting spot in the Last Chance Showdown.

“When they threw the green for the B Main, everyone in front of me went to the top of the track so I went to the bottom,” he said. “I got to third in a couple of laps before I got passed. Then Wayne Johnson got by me for fourth and I knew I had to get to the top of the track. I was able to get by him and stayed on the top for the rest of the race to get the final transfer spot.”

Schuett rolled off last in the night’s 24-car main event.

“Once a group of us got lapped there was little reason to push the issue after that,” he said. “I was able to get by a car and a few dropped out so we finished 19th.”

Schuett’s unfamiliarity with the track led to a slower than hoped for qualifying run on Friday when he timed in 28th quickest out of 36 cars.

“We missed the gear a bit for qualifying,” said Schuett, who started and finished seventh in his heat race. “That put us starting eighth in the B Main. We started on the top of the track and fell back to 10th before coming back and racing for sixth at the finish.

“We missed sixth place in the heat race by .003 of a second. If we had finished sixth, we would’ve started fourth in the B Main instead of eighth and had a really good chance of transferring to the A Main. That’s how important one spot can be. It’s a learning experience running with the Outlaws. We’re not to the level where most of them are, but we learn each time we race against them.

“I’d like to thank Lucas Pejakovich for his assistance the last few nights of racing. He’s been a huge help.”

Schuett plans to return to Wisconsin this Saturday to race with the Bumper to Bumper IRA Series at Wilmot Raceway in Wilmot.

“I’m excited to race at Wilmot,” he said. “We raced there last August so we’ll have some notes available. We’ll probably race with the IRA Series for the next few weeks.”
