Dupo, IL (August 23, 2018) It’s been a busy couple of weeks for Kyle Schuett and his Schuett Racing team, even though the team had a weekend away from the track just two weeks ago. While the team may not have been racing the weekend before last, on August 11th, Kyle put both his midget and micro rides on display at the offices of Health Alliance, a big supporter of Schuett Racing. It was a great day meeting employees and introducing new people to the racing world. It was also a great way to spend an off-weekend before heading out to the Mighty Macon Speedway and Angell Park Speedway this past weekend.
On Saturday night, Kyle had double driver duty as he piloted his Schuett Racing #9K midget and the Runaway Chassis #46 micro sprint. In midget action, Kyle had a tough heat race run, finishing seventh and sending him to the B-main. In the B-main, Kyle was able to move from ninth to sixth, scoring the final transfer spot to the 30-lap A-main event. On a tough Macon track, Kyle moved from 22nd to an 18th place finish. In micro action, Kyle drove from fifth to a second-place finish in his heat race, putting him third in overall passing points. Kyle then wheeled the #46 micro to an eighth-place finish in the A-main.
On Sunday night, the team traveled north to the historic Angell Park Speedway for the annual Cornfest event. In true Angell Park form, single-car qualifying kicked off the night and even though Kyle doesn’t qualify very often, he was able to go out and lay down a lap of 14.778, good enough for 10th quick out of 41 cars. Kyle followed up qualifying with a sixth-place run in his heat race, which put him in the B-main. Picking up the B-main win, Kyle then lined up 10th in the main event. Running just outside the top ten, Kyle ended the night with a nearly flat right rear tire and a 12th place finish.
Up next for Schuett Racing will be one of the longest standing weekends on the POWRi National Midget League schedule – the Herb Barlow Memorial at Jacksonville Speedway, followed by the Tom Knowles Memorial at Spoon River Speedway in Canton, Illinois on September 7th and 8th. Over the years, these two events have become staples for the POWRi series, producing some of the best racing of the season. Kyle will look to add his name to the long list of winners when he returns to action in just a couple weeks.
Kyle and the Schuett Racing team like to thank all the employees and friends of Health Alliance who came out to visit on the 11th during the Champaign event. Being able to meet new people and show them all about racing is something that Kyle has enjoyed doing over the last couple years at multiple appearances. In addition to seeing the Schuett Racing cars, fans got to pick up new Kyle Schuett t-shirts and hero cards featuring all the team’s current sponsors. Kyle and his entire team would like to thank all the team’s sponsors and partners who have made each of these things possible.
