Dupo, IL (May 24, 2015) After four straight Mother Nature victories, the Lucas Oil POWRi midget series finally returned to action last night at the historic Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Known for its beautiful facility and dedicated race fans, Angell Park Speedway is just one of those tracks that everyone needs to go to at least one time. It’s also one of those tracks that can be treacherous for inexperienced drivers and even some seasoned veterans. Saturday was scheduled to be night one of two Thiel Memorial races, honoring the late wife and daughter of local promoter, Dan Thiel; however, Mother Nature would again be victorious in Sunday’s event.
Twenty-one POWRi and BMARA midgets entered Saturday’s Memorial Day weekend event. Based on his pill draw, Kyle lined up fourth in heat race number one. With this being his first time at Angell Park and having a heat race which included eventual feature winner Kevin Thomas, Jr. and three other drivers who have all run full seasons at the track; Kyle was able to hold on to a fifth place finish. Based on his heat race finish, Kyle lined up 14th in the A-main. Throughout the A-feature, Kyle was able to gain confidence and pass cars, resulting in a ninth place finish. This marks his fifth top ten finish in seven races during 2015.
Up next for Kyle and his Schuett Racing team will be Illinois Speed Week beginning on June 4th at Quincy Raceways in Quincy, Illinois. After Quincy, the team will travel to Jacksonville, Macon, and will conclude the week at Belle-Clair Speedway in Belleville. This is quickly becoming one of the most popular week/weekends of the POWRi season. There will be no shortage of cars or talent when Illinois Speed Week hits a track near you. Stay tuned to Schuett Racing on Facebook for updates from each night.
Kyle and his Schuett Racing team would like to thank everyone for their support and a big thank you to season sponsors - Illiana Insurance Agency, Progressive Propane, Bergfield Farms, KBR Performance, Rod End Supply, FK Indy, Hoosier Tire Midwest, AMSOIL by Roger Clapp, Steve Thomas Racing, Bell Racing, ButlerBuilt Professional Seat Systems, BOSS Chassis, R & B Powdercoating, J & K Rentals, and Keizer Wheels.
