When the Lucas Oil POWRi midget series takes to the track on March 20th at Port City Raceway, young gun Kyle Schuett will be ready to start his official rookie season with the series. With just a handful of midget starts under his belt, Schuett and his Schuett Racing, Inc. team are heading into the 2015 season with the goal of winning the coveted POWRi Rookie of the Year honors. Schuett, who picked up his first POWRi micro series feature win last fall, will move up the open wheel ladder and now focus on midget racing. Earlier this winter, young Schuett made his first midget start at the Southern Illinois Center in DuQuoin, Illinois and amidst some tough competition, earned an A-main starting position. A total of 59 cars were entered for the 5th Annual Battle at the Center and Kyle had impressive runs in both his heat race and qualifier, finishing second and seventh respectively. Based on this combination, Kyle lined up 19th for the A-main event and at the end of the 40 laps, he found himself barely missing the top ten and wound up with an 11th place finish. These results have the team excited about the upcoming season.
During the 2015 season, Kyle will have two new Esslinger powered Boss chassis in his arsenal. These new cars will replace the Esslinger powered Spike chassis that the team previously purchased from longtime midget owner, Ebby Bergfield. Boss Chassis is a new and growing chassis company based in Belleville, Illinois and has deep ties in local midget racing. Kyle and his team will be able to work hand in hand with the other Boss teams in order to maximize factory support and minimize Kyle’s learning curve while adapting to racing the midget. Schuett Racing, Inc. is looking forward to its close working relationship with Boss Chassis and new supporter FK Shocks when Kyle hits the track next month.
Kyle and his Schuett Racing, Inc. team would like to thank all of the sponsors that are making his quest for POWRi Rookie of the Year possible. Without these people and businesses, the Schuett Racing, Inc. #9K would not be able to hit the track week after week. A big thank you goes out to Illiana Insurance Agency, Progressive Propane, Bergfield Farms, KBR Performance, Rod End Supply, FK Indy, Hoosier Tire Midwest, AMSOIL by Roger Clapp, Steve Thomas Racing, Bell Racing, ButlerBuilt Professional Seat Systems, BOSS Chassis, R & B Powdercoating, J & K Rentals, and Keizer Wheels.
